Branding and Graphic Design for Chatham High School PTO Fashion Show: "Friday the 13th"
Location
Chatham, NJ
Date
March 2020
Role
Graphic Designer
Every year, Chatham High School has a competition to design the logo and branding for their biggest annual PTO fundraiser: the infamous senior fashion show. I was nervous to try my luck at winning this competition, being only a sophomore at the time, but nevertheless I gave it my all. The theme of the fashion show was "Friday the 13th," as that was the day the show was taking place. The challenge here was making images like black cats, broken mirrors, and ladders look fashionable.
Armed with Adobe Illustrator and a vision, I created a logo, flyer, and full suite of graphics that blended superstition with style. Four-leaf clovers, ladders, ladybugs, and shattered glass found their way into my designs, weaving together the duality of luck and misfortune. Even the typography played along, nodding to the playful theme.
Winning the competition meant seeing my designs take over the town—on posters, brochures, and invitations everywhere. Turns out that for me, Friday the 13th was pretty lucky after all.
